Iqra’s brother, Nahid Hasan, is a three-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). This shows that politics runs strongly in her family.

Education Journey 

Iqra had her early education in Kairana but did her 12th grade at Queen Mary School in Delhi. She then went to Lady Shri Ram College (LSR), part of Delhi University, where she completed her Bachelor's degree. After that, she earned her LLB (law degree) from the Campus Law Centre, Delhi University. Following her studies in India, she went to the United Kingdom and completed a Master of Science (MSc) in International Politics and Law from SOAS, University of London, in 2020. This international education helped shape her political views and skills.

Early Career  

Before fully entering politics, Iqra was a practicing lawyer. Her master's thesis focused on electoral reforms and how voting systems could reduce hate speech and promote democracy. During the 2019 protests in London against India's Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), she actively took part, highlighting her concern for minority rights.

Iqra’s formal political career began in 2016 when she ran for a district panchayat election but lost by a small margin. Her active involvement in politics increased after she returned to Kairana during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.
